Avoid salt injury to your plants by salting only high-risk areas such as, stairs or slopes. Mixing about 5% salt with other abrasive materials, like sand, can also assist in keeping your plants healthy and cut down on rock salt costs.

Ornamental grass in winter.Instead of cutting back all your perennials for winter, examine which ones have winter interest. Many perennials such as Autumn Joy Sedum, Coneflowers, and many others stand-up throughout the winter providing color, textures and bird interests. Ornamental grasses, Which are the stars of the autumn garden, continue their appeal into winter as well.
