Current Position Available

PROPAGATION INTERNSHIP
Gives a student the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in propagation, production, and maintenance of landscape nursery crops.

Container Production: Approx. 75% of workload
  - Potting/Production Line
  - Weeding
  - Spacing
  - Watering
Propagation: Approx. 10% of workload
  - Seed collection, processing, and sowing
  - Softwood cutting
  - Grafting
Research and Development: Approx. 5% of workload
  - Involvement with plant improvement projects
  - Gain insight into plant selection and evaluation
Field Liner Production: Approx. 5% of workload
  - Production, propagation, and growing activities related to field liner production
Landscape Install/Construction: Approx. 5% of workload
  - Hands on experience with landscape install/construction

Student Internship Benefits:
Student intern will gain valuable “real-world” propagation and production experience in the landscape nursery field through daily interaction and job shadowing with experienced, veteran growers and production managers.
  - Experience with emphasis in propagation, and production of landscape nursery crops

Requirements:
  - 13 week (500 to 600 hours) full time summer program from late May through August
  - Must be a student of Horticulture, or a related field.
  - Avid interest in interest in horticulture propagation and production.
  - Devoted to developing a career in the Nursery-Landscape industry.
  - Keep a daily log of work and learning experiences to be reviewed by Johnson’s Nursery internship supervisor.

Wages: $350 per week Stipend

Current Position Available

PROPAGATION LABORER

36 weeks (1400 to 1500 hours) full time seasonal employment March through December
  - 8-9.5 hours a day, Monday-Friday, March-April & October
  - 10 hours a day, Monday-Thursday, May-September & November-December

Container Production: Approx. 90% of workload
  - Potting/Production Line
  - Weeding
  - Spacing
  - Watering
Propagation: Approx. 5% of workload
  - Seed collection, processing, and sowing
  - Softwood cutting
  - Grafting
Field Liner Production: Approx. 5% of workload
  - Production, propagation, and growing activities related to field liner production

Requirements:
  - Should have an interest in growing plants and a desire to gain knowledge to become a better worker
  - Required to be a productive, self motivated worker. Capable of fast paced repetitious work
  - Need to be able to safely lift 50 pounds.

Wages: $9.00-$10.50 per hour

13 week (500 to 600 hours) full time summer employment May through August
  - 10 hours a day, Monday-Thursday

Container Production: Approx. 80% of workload
  - Potting/Production Line
  - Weeding
  - Spacing
  - Watering
Propagation: Approx. 10% of workload
  - Seed collection, processing, and sowing
  - Softwood cutting
  - Grafting
Field Liner Production: Approx. 10% of workload
  - Production, propagation, and growing activities related to field liner production
