Retail Sales & Design Horticulturist

(Full or Part Time/Seasonal April 1 through October 31)

Pay Range: $10.00-$12.00 per hour (varies with education and experience).
Entry level position. 

Duties:
  • Assist retail clients with landscape plant selection; ; customer service.
  • Create simple landscape designs for Do-It-Yourself and Installation clients
  • Set up small landscape installation jobs
  • Landscape maintenance in display gardens
  • Lifting and loading plants

Qualifications:

  • General knowledge of landscape plants, design and landscaping
  • Landscape design experience or education
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Team player attitude
  • Ability to work outdoors;
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. Horticulture education preferred, but not required.

Horticulturist/Retail Sales

(Full or Part Time position, seasonal from late March through late October.)

Pay range:  $10.00 - $12.00 per hour

Duties:  Assist retail clients with landscape plant selection and provide customer service.

  • 2 or 4-year horticulture related education or comparable horticulture experience
  • General knowledge of landscape plants and landscaping
  • Landscape design experience or education
  • Basic computer skills
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Team player attitude
  • Ability to work outdoors
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Landscape design experience a plus.

Nursery Equipment Operator/Foreman

(Full time position. Pay varies with experience/education.)
 
Assist in harvesting and loading nursery stock at our growing facility located in Jackson, WI.

Qualifications:

  • Safe operation of a front end loader/backhoe
  • Safe operation of Bobcat and Case skid steers
  • Ability to supervise a 2- to 4-person crew 
  • Ability to complete paperwork correctly and fully
  • Plant identification skills
  • Handling and loading capabilities 
  • Familiarity with Dutchman tree diggers and Nursery Jaws tree handlers a plus.

Softscape Landscape Foreperson

(Full-time, year-round employment, 8-10 hours per day plus Saturdays in spring, 8 hours per day during off-season, No snowplowing. Pay range: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour.)
 
Duties: install trees, shrubs, evergreens and perennials for residential and commercial clients; some landscape maintenance (spring and fall clean-up, small tree pruning and removals, etc.). Coordinate with landscape designers, sales people, and the expeditor to provide quality landscaping and landscape services.
 
Qualifications:
  • Insurable driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • At least 4 years of experience in the landscape business
  • Good management skills to maintain a productive jobsite
  • Fluent knowledge of proper installment of trees, shrubs, mulch, draintile and other aspects of landscape products
  • Proper loading and unloading of all landscape materials and equipment
  • Proper operational knowledge of all landscaping equipment
  • Possess or able to acquire a CDL driver’s license and pesticide applicator license
  • Fluent knowledge of all aspects of a landscape project, such as blueprint reading, plant knowledge and material layout
  • Knowledge of proper procedure in finishing a landscape job
  • Attention to detail in completing paperwork
