PROPAGATION INTERNSHIP
Student intern will gain valuable “real-world” propagation and production experience in the landscape nursery field through daily interaction and job shadowing with experienced, veteran growers and production managers within this 13 week (500 to 600 hours) full time summer program from late May through August.

Workload:
Container Production (approx. 75% of workload)
- Potting/Production Line
- Weeding
- Spacing
- Watering
Propagation (approx. 10% of workload)
- Seed collection, processing, and sowing
- Softwood cutting
- Grafting
Research and Development (approx. 5% of workload)
- Involvement with plant improvement projects
- Gain insight into plant selection and evaluation
Field Liner Production (approx. 5% of workload)
- Production, propagation, and growing activities related to field liner production
Landscape Install/Construction (approx. 5% of workload)
- Hands on experience with landscape install/construction
Requirements:
- Must be a student of Horticulture, or a related field
- Avid interest in interest in horticulture propagation and production
- Devoted to developing a career in the Nursery-Landscape industry
- Keep a daily log of work and learning experiences to be reviewed by Johnson’s Nursery internship supervisor.
Wages:
- $350 per week Stipend
