Hardiness: Zone 3-7 (Canadian and USA)

Growth Rate: It is more compact in height and width than Techny. It is also more dense in foliage and appearance.

Description: Technito™ exhibits a compact, broadly pyramidal growth habit. It forms dense foliage that requires less shearing than its parent, Techny. The denser foliage results from the existence of fuller sprays, with a greater number of branchlets per spray and shorter internodes between the sprays and branchlets. A 14 year old plant attained a height of 6' and a width of 4'. A six year old plant attained a height of 4' and a width of 2.5'. It exhibits the same dark green foliage as Techny with good winter color retention to winter burn.

Culture: Technito™ grows well in full sun or partial shade. It thrives in a wide variety of soils but prefers fertile soils with consistent moisture throughout the growing season.

Pest and Disease: No insect or disease problems. Deer may be a problem in winter.

Landscape Value: Technito™ may be used as a specimen plant or it may also be used as a tall screen or backdrop for other plants. Due to its dense growth it will make a great informal hedge with no shearing or a lovely formal hedge if sheared.

Propagation: Hardwood cutting with licensed propagation only.

Sales Potential: Technito™ is a compact, dense form of Techny and can be used as a replacement for Techny in smaller areas. It is also great for home gardens and commercial landscapes. Nurseries will not have to shear Technito™ at any stage of production.
